Scorehand · MuseScore 4 plugin

Arrange in MuseScore in plain English

Type the arranging job, like “voice the alto 1 melody in bars 19-26 for the saxes” or “write a sustained string pad under bars 47-54”. Scorehand writes the parts from your chord symbols (or the harmony in the score), keeps every note in range, and changes nothing else. One Ctrl+Z undoes it.

Free: a 100-edit trial, then 10 free edits every month. No card needed. We email you a copy of the key with a one-click activation link (needed after your first few edits).

What it does

The jobs that take an arranger an hour of clicking:

Section voicing
“voice the melody in bars 9-16 for the saxes, drop 2”
Melody on top, close or drop-2 voicings under it from the chord symbols, one line per part, each in its instrument’s range. Passing notes get diminished passing chords.
Pads and backgrounds
“write a sustained string pad under bars 17-24” · “brass hits on 2 and 4 in bars 25-28”
Chord tones with smooth voice leading: common tones held, no crossed voices.
Easier parts
“make an easier version of the trumpet 1 part in bars 33-40 for beginners”
Fast runs thinned to the beat, range brought down, same melodic shape.
Bass lines
“add a walking bass line in the contrabass, bars 1-16”
Roots on the chord changes, chromatic approach notes, from your chord symbols.

The small stuff works too (“double the flute in violin I an octave lower, bars 1-8”, transposing, slurs and articulations). Edits are applied in place in the open score as one undo step. If a request is vague (which bars? which melody?) or the target bars already have music, Scorehand asks first and offers one-click options.

Install (2 minutes)

  1. Get your free key above, then click “Download the plugin”. That zip has your key built in, so there is nothing to paste. (Already have a key? Download the plain zip and paste the key into the chat the first time.)
  2. Unzip it into your MuseScore plugins folder, so you end up with a Scorehand folder there:
    Windows: Documents\MuseScore4\Plugins\
Mac: Documents/MuseScore4/Plugins/ (in Finder: Go → Home → Documents)
    Linux: ~/Documents/MuseScore4/Plugins/
  3. Restart MuseScore 4, open Home → Plugins and click Scorehand → Enable.
  4. Open a score and choose Plugins → Composing/arranging tools → Scorehand. Type what you want in the chat.

Credits
15–45¢ per edit

Pay as you go from your credit balance. A typical edit uses about 150 to 450 credits (1 credit = $0.001), depending on how much music you ask for; big full-band requests can use 750. Clarifying questions are billed like a request; requests that change nothing are not charged. $10 (10,000 credits) is roughly 25 to 65 edits. Large orchestral scores use a little more. Credits never expire.

$10 = 10,000 credits · $25 = 25,000 · $50 = 50,000
